What is Acne?

Acne is a common skin condition that occurs when hair follicles become clogged with oil, dead skin cells, and bacteria. It can cause pimples, blackheads, whiteheads, and sometimes painful cysts.

Causes of Acne

Excess oil (sebum) production
Clogged pores due to dead skin cells
Bacteria (Propionibacterium acnes)
Hormonal changes (common during puberty, pregnancy, or due to conditions like PCOS)
Diet (dairy and high-glycemic foods may contribute)
Stress and lifestyle factors

Types of Acne Scars

Atrophic (Depressed) Scars

Hypertrophic (Raised) Scars
